Oklahoma Bingo

[ English ]

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. This is owing to the fact that the Native tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for many years. Guests from many of the nearby states load up in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to bet on Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 IGRA became law after a landmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that time, 23 of the 39 American Indian bands located in Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today operate ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were built on. Electronic games like slot machine games were not approved, on the grounds that they are thought to lead to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts have altered to allow for enormous Native gaming casinos. You’ll now see Native casinos with slots, video poker and blackjack tables. Craps and roulette are still not allowed in the American Indian gambling dens as of yet, however that is just a matter of time. No one can determine whether having different gambling hall games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
