Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That is due to the fact that the Native bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for decades. Patrons from all of the neighboring states pile in cars and travel to Oklahoma to bet on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a landmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. Since that time, twenty three of the thirty nine American Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma American Indian tribes to take advantage of the betting rules, and at this time run ten casinos of their very own. Bingo was the game on which these casinos were built on. Electronic games such as slot machines weren’t permitted, owing to the fact that they’re believed to lead to gambling dependency more than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts has changed to permit massive Indian wagering casinos. You’ll now find Native gambling dens with one armed bandits, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are not yet authorized in the American Indian casinos yet, although this is simply a matter of time. No one can say with whether having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlours will do for the appeal of bingo.
